Description
Just a Diplodocus. Brings me back many, many memories, like when I was a kid and they took me to the Museum of Natural History of Mexico City. They had this huge (though anatomically innacurate) cast of a Diplodocus skeleton... I was marveled... but enough retro for a day!
Diplodocus ("double beam") held for a brief while the title of the largest known sauropod. Even now, it's still one of the longest, with estimates well over 27 meters long even for the smallest species. It sported a very long tail, one of the longest in dinosaurs, that ended in a very thin, whip-like structure, four sturdy legs that ended in fingerless "feet", a row of spines along the back and double rows of supporting structures on each tail vertebra, hence its name.
