Tyrannosaurus ("tryant lizard", with the added "rex" for "tyrant lizard king"), is, arguably, the most representative dinosaur of all times, and one of the best known. With a length estimated between 13 and 12 metres and mass estimates oscilating between 5 and 7 tonnes, it is also one of the largest carnivores to ever inhabit the Earth. Both its size and powerful jaws allowed it to feed on pretty much every other organism in its habitat, although the debate on wether it was fully predatorial or a full-time scavenger goes on. However, it is largely agreed that, just like all other large carnivores of our time, it was a facultative scavenger, this is, an animal that usually hunts its own prey, but will feed on carrion whenever the occasion arises.
Ankylosaurus ("fused lizard", referencing its fused and stiffened bones of its back, hips and skull), was the largest genus of ankylosaurid known to date. It measured around 6 or 9 metres in length, depending on whose's reconstruction you take into account. It lacked the grinding and chewing dental batteries of contemporary hadrosaurs and ceratopsids, meaning it chewed very little and it likey relied on fermentation to process its food. It had a protective armor of bone nodules and osteoderms scattered all over its body and a powerful tail that ended in a heavy club, on which it relied for active defense.
